The balance wire rope (also known as tail rope) is an essential component of vertical mine hoists. Installed at the bottom of skips or cages, it counterbalances the dead weight of the main hoisting ropes. When one skip ascends and the other descends, the varying length of the main rope creates weight difference. The balance tail rope offsets this difference, so the hoisting machine only needs to overcome payload instead of the self-weight of long main ropes.
Balance wire rope (tail rope) is a critical component for vertical mine hoists, exclusively used for weight balance in mine hoisting circuits. In double-conveyance hoisting systems, when one skip/cage ascends, the main hoisting rope on this side gets shorter while the rope on the opposite side becomes longer. This generates a variable dead load. The balance tail rope installed at the bottom of conveyances counteracts such weight variation. Thanks to this balancing function, the hoisting machine only needs to handle the payload rather than the self-weight difference of main ropes. This lowers the rated power requirement of the hoist, smooths operation, lessens impact load and extends the service life of the whole hoisting set.
Main application fields:
Balance wire rope (tail rope) for mine hoisting can be fully customized to satisfy various vertical shaft hoisting projects. Since mine conditions vary greatly from site to site, one-size-fits-all ropes cannot guarantee stable and safe operation.
Customizable items:
Balance wire rope (mine tail rope) is carefully packaged to avoid damage during long-distance transportation, loading, unloading and underground handling.
